    💡Using an iPad or Tablet?

    Using the Smart Guides shortcut key

    Smart Guides allow a User to guide, space out and align Counts on Plans.

    1. Select a Count from the Stage
    2. Click to place the Count then hold SHIFT
      To display the Smart Guides
    3. Move the Count horizontally or vertically
      When 2 Counts are placed in a line, a further blue dot will highlight the same spacing for the Count closest to the cursor

    Navigation hints:
    • Rotate a Symbol: Hold ALT / Option and press R or E
    • Delete a Symbol: Hold CTRL / Command ⌘ then click Symbol to remove

    Enable Smart Guides all the time

    1. Select a Count from the Stage
    2. Click Settings
    3. Click Smart Guides
    4. Move the Count horizontally or vertically
      When 2 Counts are placed in a line, a further blue dot will highlight the same spacing for the Count closest to the cursor

    Using Smart Guides with existing Counts on Plans

    Currently, there is no ability to Edit an existing Count and use the Smart Guides. It is recommended to Delete the Count on the Plan and then replace to use Smart Guides.

    Grid Tool with Smart Guides Enabled

    Smart Guides can be used when the Grid Tool is enabled to:

    • Align all consecutive Counts.
    • Automatically snap to crosshairs of the Grid lines, the centre of each line and centre space.
    • Align on angled Plans.

    Using an iPad or Tablet?

    Things to note when following the above steps:

    • Smart Guides cannot be used on Tablet Devices unless there is a mouse connected
    • Tap instead of click
    • Unless there is a keyboard attached to the device, there are no shortcut keys on an iPad or Tablet
    • Tap Done instead of pressing ESC

    • Pinch zoom
    • Tap hold and drag to pan around a Plan

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Why can't I see Smart Guides even after enabling it on an iPad / Tablet device?

    When utilising an iPad or tablet device with a pen, stylus, or finger, the touch technology is employed. However, the device cannot identify hover locations, preventing the use of Smart Guides in this mode.

    If the device is connected to a mouse, Smart Guides can be used with the same functionality as on a computer.
